Our Day Of Rest: Movie Night

Published by Angel at 9:16 pm under Advice, Day Of Rest Series Edit This

If you’d like to keep your sanity, it’s important to take at least one day off from your business. By stepping away from all of your work and letting it slip from your mind once a week, you’re giving yourself a chance to recharge. You also get the opportunity to do something with your family!

For Our Day Of Rest today, the subject is Movie Night. Movies are great for bonding with your loved ones, and it gives you the opportunity to watch something new.

Depending on the age of your kids, movie night could be something that you all enjoy together by going to the movie theater. If you’re on a budget or your children are too young for a theater setting, you can always rent and celebrate movie night at home.

No matter which way you go, there are a few things you should always remember:

  • Be prepared for differences of opinion. While one person wants to watch one thing, another will want to see something completely different. Try to compromise. Maybe one movie this week, another next week?
  • Bring some spending cash if you go to a theater, or buy some popcorn and other goodies to eat at home while watching the movie. If you stay in to watch movies, buy everyones favorite drinks in advance, grab some popcorn and some boxes of theater candy that can be found either in the movie or candy section of your favorite store.
  • Turn off all electronics. This goes for everyone! No need for phones, laptops or mp3 players. Everyone should be enjoying this bit of family time together.
  • Consider a Netflix account of you’d like to make movie night a regular thing. Netflix is great because the price adjusts with how many movies you want out at one time. If you’d like to make movie night a double feature, then consider making an account where you can take out 2 movies at once. By watching multiple movies in a night, it can also help curb some of those “I don’t want to watch that” arguments that are nearly inevitable.
  • Don’t worry! Drop everything work related for this fun moment with your family. Nothing is more important than quality time with those you love. Don’t let your business distract you from it.
